Civil law is the cornerstone of the Greek legal order, strengthening social cohesion and maintaining the social welfare of citizens. It is the most important branch of the Greek legal system that safeguards the rights and obligations of individuals in their relations and transactions with each other. For many, civil law is considered by many to act as an \"umbrella\" that encapsulates other areas of law such as contract law, property law, family law, labour law, contract law, inheritance law and commercial law.<\/p>\n
